World No.1 Roger Federer has a stiff challenge at hand when he faces American John Isner in the quarter-finals at the 2012 London Olympics. With both players displaying great skill till this stage, one should expect some fireworks in this match!
After a slow start in the first round, Federer has risen his game to another level and has come back strongly, winning the next two matches in straight sets, showing he just gets better as the tournament progresses. With 5 titles to his name this year, Federer recaptured the elusive World No.1 ranking after lift his seventh Wimbledon crown. With a very good 49-6 win-loss record this year, Federer looks to be getting back to the level we expect him to play at.
On the other side of the net, Isner, is one of those players who keep roaming around the Top-10 and is ranked at No.11 in the World at present. With a win-loss record of 33-13 this year, Isner has won a title this year as he looks to cement his place in the Top-10. He is really playing some high quality tennis and is yet to lose a set in this tournament. He would be hoping his serves fire the way they have been or else it will be a really tough task for him.
This will be the pair’s fifth meeting with the Swiss leading 3-1. Their last meeting came this year at the Indian Wells finals where Federer outplayed Isner in straight sets.
