The adrenalin packed Russian, Vera Zvonareva is playing at the US Open after having a good run at the Rogers Cup prior to the Grand Slam. She had a easy first round match against Zuzana Kucova in which she won in staright sets. She is playing Sabine Lisicki from Germany in the second round. Zvonareva has been performaing to best standards and is ranked at world number 8 among the WTA rankings. Sabine on the other hand is ranked just within the top hundred players at 94 in the world
Zvonareva has been proving her metal against the best of the womens' game in the previous tournaments. A good run at the year's last Grand Slam will give her immense self confidence and the urge to push into the top five. Zvonareva has a win/loss record of 33/14 this year. Lisicki has a long way to go and improve as she has a win/loss record of 3/8 this year.
Zvonareva is known for her agility on court. She is also harnessed with massive forehands which she will definately use during the match. The strong German would be more than glad to play the experienced Zvonareva and will be able to analyze her performance in a better way after this match. Moreover the match should be challenging as this is the first time both of them will be playing each other.
