The American sensation, Mardy Fish shows no signs of giving up as he goes on to start his quest for the US Open after a final appearence in Cincinnati where he lost to Federer in the finals. He is playing Pablo Cuevas from Uruguay in the second round. Fish is seeded among the top twenties keeping because of his performances this year. He is ranked at world number 21 among the ATP rankings. Cuevas on the other side has a lot to do in his international carrier as compared to Fish and is ranked at 88 in the world.
Fish has had an impressive run in the previous tournaments. He had a dicy and tough first round match against Jan Hajek and defeated him in five well fought sets. This tournament remains vital for him as he will try to win his first Grand Slam title. He has a win/loss record this year which stands at 34/13. Alongside Cuevas has a win/loss record of 13/17 this year. This the first time that they will be playing against each other.
Fish has one of the best and most powerful serve in the game and an aggressive forehand to support it. Moreover Fish is known for his volleys and penetratng backhand passes also. He is surely expected to put extreme effort in this match also. Cuevas seems to be in good touch as he has been playing on tour for some time now. It can be either of the two who can emerge a winner from this second round match up.
