The winner of 2010 Olympus US Open series, Andy Murray opens his maiden slam title bid with a match up against Slovakian Lukas Lacko. The Scot enjoyed an amazing start to the season with his second slam final in Australia. Although, after his swashbuckling run in Melbourne, Murray failed to live upto the expectations and suffered early exits and disappointing losses till the onset of the Summer hardcourt season. With a title defence in Toronto, Murray seems to have regained the top form once again and is looking like a contender in real sense for this year's US Open.
His opponent, Slovakian Lukas Lacko is currently ranked World No. 71 and is without a title on ATP World Tour. Although he does have a winner's trophy in the challenger circuit. Lacko's most impressive performance came on grasscourt when he took out some established players to move ahead in Halle, Germany.
This is the first meeting between both players.
Murray definitely has an edge over the Slovak by the virtue of his experience and current form which saw him clinch a title in Toronto.
TennisEarth.com's Pick - Murray in three comfortable sets.
