Vera Zvonareva has proved it again after the Rogers Cup that she is among to eight best female tennis players of the world. She maintained her consistency under adverse conditions and went past the Serbian in two straight sets, one being a tiebreaker. Zvonareva has been performaing to decent levels in the past and is seeded 7 in the tournament. She is ranked at world number 8 among the WTA rankings. Kanepi on the other hand is ranked just within the top fourty players at 32 in the WTA rankings.

This the first time that both the palyers will be playing each other. Both the players possess a commendable win/loss record as they have been in good form this year. Zvonareva has a win/loss record of 33/14 this year and Kanepi has a win/loss record of 42/16 this year.
