Home favourite Mardy Fish entered this year's championship, shouldering a huge load of expectations by the virtue of his superb runs in Newport, Atlanta and Cincinnati. To everyone's contentment, the American proved hmself well in his first three matches and registered confident wins to keep his stakes on title alive as an OUTSIDER.
Fish's opponent in today's match is the mighty Serbian Novak Djokovic, the 2007 finalist, whose 'not-so-popular' tiff with the American audience during the 2007 semifinal with Roddick may resurface today, considering the fact that he is facing an in-form home favourite.
Djokovic has had a disappointing year with only one title triumph in Dubai. He failed to reach the final of another masters series title as opposed to the last season where he not only claimed the title in Paris (Bercy), but also made it to four other finals. Djokovic's game has seen a sea change since last year, and to the Serbian's dismay, it's not working for him.
Both players have met four times with Djokovic clinching victory on all occasions.
TennisEarth.com's Pick - A five set match, ending in Djokovic's favour.
