
The Rome Masters in 2006 produced yet another unbelievable final that was contested between World No.1 Roger Federer and now World No.2 Nadal. Nadal finally prevailed to beat the Swiss Maestro in five breath-taking sets 6-7,7-6,6-4,2-6,7-6.
Nadal’s path to the final started on an emotional note as he played idol Carlos Moya in the first round. Moya remained the only man who was able to take a set off of him up until the final against Federer. Filippo Volandri, Tim Henman, Fernando Gonzalez and Gael Monfils without being stretched.
