The Backhand Volley

The backhand volley – The arms must be in the ready position. The non-gripping hand must be at the neck of the racket.

Grip the racket with the top of the head slightly below eye level

Keep the racket out in front and position for the approaching ball. Take a hop towards the left and get the right feet in front in order to make room in between the body and the ball. Take the grip used for a backhand slice and twist the wrist to create an angle with the head of the racquet facing the sky.

Avoid the backswing at the ball and punch it with a brisk expansion of the chest.  While striking at the shot make sure to reach and balance. Recover as quickly as possible and move back into the ready position.
