And now comes the champion, Novak Djokovic. the Serbian star is presented with the Norman Brooks Cup which he proudly holds for the photographers from all over the world. Djokovic congratulates Nadal for playing such a fantastic match and then thanks his BOX, this coaches, fitness trainers and family. Djokovic then takes a moment to thank the major sponsors, KIA, Jacobs Creek and others in making the event possible.

The runner-up Rafael Nadal is called upon the stage and is presented with the silverware. Nadal thanks his team for preparing him so well and then congratulates Djokovic on his win. The Spaniard finally thanks the fans for the unbelievable support for the last two weeks.

President of Tennis Australia, Steve Healy thanks the sponsors for their support along with the 4500 staff at the year's first Grand Slam title.

With this win Djokvic claims his fifth Grand Slam title and third at the Australian Open, having previously triumphed in 2008 and 2011.  Besides that Djokovic just became the fifth man in the history of tennis to win three consecutive grand slam titles in the Open Era joining Rod Laver, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal

Djokovic earns a few break points as Nadal saves a few with commendable forehands in the game. The Serbian works rallies and forces errors off a worn out Nadal. He snatches the break of serve and takes the lead at 6-5 in the final set.
