Simona Halep

Serena had a fantastic day at the office in so many aspects of her game, but was particularly impressive at the net as she won all but one point whenever she went up to the barrier. All in all it was a ruthless performance from the 2002 champion who is looking forward to lifting her second trophy in Rome as she need an hour and 5 minutes to overcome Halep. Serena blasted off 24 winners. Popped up 5 aces and broke her adversary 5 times to move into the final of the Italian Open and will now face the winner of match between Victoria Azarenka and Sara Errani.

World no.1 Serena Williams put up yet another masterclass against Simona Halep whose cindrella story finally came to an end at the hands of the American inside the Foro Italico here in Rome today. The top seed made a slow start in the match as she went down an early break in the first set, but once she settled in her groove there was no looking back as she raced through to a crushing 6-3, 6-0 victory over the 21 year old youngster.

Carla Suareznavarro

A thumping victory for the World No. 1 Serena Williams here. From the very start of the match, it looked like a one-sided affair, as Serena never allowed her opponent to settle down and smacked 29 massive winners to sail home in straight sets.  Suareznavarro was good in her serve, but she just could not match up with Serena's precision-oriented shotmaking and break-point conversion rate.
