Kei Nishikori

Kei Nishikori stuns Djokovic - Kei Nishikori came up with a scintillating performance today to outclass World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the US Open semifinals. The Japanese came out looking fresh and motivated to do well. Nishikori entertained the capacity crowd by producing some absolute jaw-dropping stuff. The Japanese was manufacturing great angled backhands cross-court and was also coming up with picture perfect down the line winners from both the ends of the court. Statistically speaking, Nishikori smashed 37 blazing winners, and was assisted by the 38 unforced errors that the Serbian committed today.

Andy Murray

In what was a fascinating contest between the two gladiators of the sport, it was Novak Djokovic who topped Andy Murray in their quarterfinal encounter inside Arthur Ashe at the National Tennis Center here in New York on Thursday morning. The two swapped the first two sets in tiebreakers as both of them matched each other shot for shot. In fact, the grueling rallies of 22, 27 and 29 shots became the norm until Murray's level dropped considerably especially in the third set. Djokovic was waiting for that opportunity and he grabbed it with both hands as he secured that set in only 36 minutes with twin breaks of serve. In the fourth set as well he grabbed the early lead before closing out a terrific win in three hours and 32 minutes.

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic put up a display of exquisite shot-making as he outwit World No. 22 Philipp Kohlschreiber to book a spot in the quarterfinals of the US Open. The Serbian never looked in trouble as he was the one who was quick off the blocks to bag the opening set in just 25 minutes. In the second set, the German tried hard but failed to match the in-form Djokovic in the grueling baseline exchanges . The 2011 champion continued the trend in the third set as well as he completed an easy win on the day in just under two hours.
