Somdev Devvarman

Top ranked Tunisian Malek Jaziri made it through to just his second ATP Tour quarterfinal as he defeated the World No.78 Somdev Devvarman in their topsy-turvy second round duel here in Dubai. Jaziri made a bright start to the match as he broke the Indian twice in the first set to cruise through it with a 6-3 score-line. However, Somdev was in the lead with a break in the second on two different occasions, but failed to build on those advantages as Malek broke right back each time. In the end, he achieved that decisive break in the 12th game to complete a famous win in an hour and 34 minutes. He hammered 21 winners, thundered down 9 aces, won an impressive 69% of his first serve points to seal the deal in his favor on the day.
