Roger Federer

Federer moves into the third round - Former World No.1 Roger Federer was in sublime touch and was in a mood to kill as he showed no mercy to his big serving opponent, Aussie Samuel Groth today. In front of the capacity crowd, Groth tried very hard, but unfortunately was unable to live with the tremendous amount of pressure that the Swiss maestro applied on him. The 17-time Grand Slam winner smashed 36 winners, and was assisted by the 30 unforced errors that the Australian committed today.

A comprehensive victory for Federer as he wraps up the match in  a little over two hours. The Swiss Maestro was at his best as he made his moves in the later stages of all the sets to outclass his American opponent. With 10 aces, 41 winners,  and 4 service breaks on the Australian’s serve, Federer was always in control of the proceedings as he used to take the initiative at just the right time which led to his smooth win on the day.
