World number one Dinara Safina manages to win again 'somehow' defeating the charismatic Kristina Barrois in three sets as she rallied from behind to win after over 2 hours and 12 minutes of intense battle. Safina won 6-7 6-2 6-3. The match reminded of Safina's first round match against Rogowska where she had lost the first set too, but rallied to win. The Russian is so not playing like a Number One, and definitely, if she continues with such terrible display, she will soon find herself staring down the barrel. She has been lucky so far in the tournament for she can't be winning with such a game. She has had more double faults and unforced errors than winners in the past two matches. Safina needs some serious look into her game before its too late. For now, she lives, to fight another day here in Flushing Meadows.
