SOLID START....!

Andy Murray delights the home fans with a solid start to his title campaign at the 2009 ATP World Tour finals after outclassing US Open champ Juan Martin Del Potro to win the opening round robin match.

Murray pocketed the opener after quite a struggle however, the second set saw the brilliance of the Argentine who levelled the match by winning the second set. The third set saw Murray bounce back intp the match and with a couple of breaks, Murray won the match 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

With a formidable 5-2 lead in the decider, the match result seems pretty much in Murray's ravour. Although, Del Potro will make a final attempt now.

Murray, who may be pitted against Fernando Verdasco ahead in the tournament, has won the pair's last meeting after quite a struggle, winning the three sets match in a gurelling two hour tussle.
