In a match that started with Angelique Kerber dominating Li Na, slowly shifted the other way, with the Chinese hitting top gear in the middle of set two. There was never any doubt about who was the more technically superior player, but Kerber has done extremely well all tournament long, and when she took the first set 6-1 and then went up a break to lead the second set 3-1, the match seemed headed in one direction only. It was here that the tide turned and dramatically so, as Li hit top gear suddenly and won 9 games on the trot, to take a 4-0 lead in the third set. After that it was just a formality, as Li won the match and with it her first title of the year. Li finished the match in an hour and forty minutes serving one ace and taking 80 out the 154 points.
