Roger Federer tames the high flying Serbian Novak Djokovic in straight sets 6-1 7-5 to win his third title here in Cincinnati.

The opening set saw the second game last 22 minutes but Federer, the genius that he is, eased through all the challenges posed by number 4 Djokovic and wrapped it up 6-1 in no time.

The next saw the revival of the Serbian as he held serve after serve to threaten Federer to take the match full stretch but Federer broke him at 5-5 and held his serve to rejoice.

It wasn't like Djokovic played under par, but it was the Swiss in top gear as he routed Djokovic in straight sets to make a statement for the upcoming US OPEN 2009.

This was the Maestro's 16th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Title that takes him ahead of Rafael Nadal and just one short of the all time leader Andre Agassi's 17. The Cincinnati Masters also meant Roger grabbed his 61st title in career, 39th on hard court.   This was Novak Djokovic's second Cincinnati final in a row. He was the runner up to Andy Murray last year.   On the final, Djokovic said, "I congratulate Roger. He was too good today. All the bast Roger for US Open. He has been a fantastic player. I will come here again next year."

Federer on the other hand, spoke about life on court and off it. "A good start always helps. The second game was great but I'm glad to have won it. That got the momentum going. The whole week has been great. Congrats Novak. You have played well throughout. All the best for US Open. Its been an awesome preparation for US Open." Talking about his life in the recent past, he said, "Its been girls for me. I have been changing diapers. Things have changed so much for me in the past few mnths. Thanks you guys for the love and support."

Djokovic seems to be making things difficult for himself in his servie games. He lost a 30-0 advantage as Federer made it 30-30 but Djokovic somehow managed to hold and lead once again. Federer will now serve to stay in the match.

Federer ensured his place at the very first page in the history books when he beat Andy Roddick in the finals to lift his sixth Wimbledon singles and 15th overall Grand Slam title, surpassing American Pete Sampras' record of 14 Grand Slam wins.

Federer's most satisfying performance before the triumph at French Open was the win in the final of Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open, where he tamed the Lion in his den.

Federer gets back things on serve as he breaks to 15, th eonly point for the Serbian coming in a form of a brilliantly placed shot to a volley by Federer that zips past Fed's racquet.
