RODDICK STUNNED...! In a major upset unseeded American Sam Querrey beats compatriot Andy Roddick in two tough tie-breaks to win the 7-6(11), 7-6(3) match after almost two hours of play. 
Querrey hit 42 winners and took full advantage of Roddick's 30 unforced errors to register the hard-fought victory.

Querrey opens the tie-break on a high note, winning the point on Roddick';s serve and races to a 3-0 lead. With a big backhand crosscourt pass, Querrey further consolidates the mini-break and as Roddick makes another expensive volley error, Querrey sits on a 5-2 lead. An angled backhand crosscourt passing shot sets up the match point for him which he duly converts with an ace to close out the match 7-6(11), 7-6(3).

Roddick misses a delightful forehand down the line pass by a mere inch at 0-15, but grabs the next point to build some pressure. Querrey, who is determined to pull an upset tonight, denies Roddick a chance to level the match so easily as he pushes another tie-break to see his chances in an expected nail-biter.

Roddick eases to a 6-5 lead in the second set with a rare love service game. As the set is a game away from a successive tie-break finish, both players pull up their socks to ensure they use every arrow in their armour to take the match from here.

Querrey faces some stiff challenge from the Wimbledon finalist as some fine volleying gets Roddick a break point. But right then, comes a 130 mph ace that snatches the set point away from Roddick followed by another ace.

Roddick fires back-to-back aces to win a 'came-as-a-relief' quick service game as Querrey loosens up a little bit giving way to Roddick to win points at the net easily.

In a tightly contested match, Querrey surprisingly shows an edge with easy service holds as another one gets him a square off in the second set at 4-4.

Querrey continues to show nightmares to Roddick with some more 15-30 situations before Roddick comes out of his erratic shadow to clinch the service game, hitting some solid serves enroute to a 4-3 second set scoreline.
