It took him almost two hours of play, but the Russian Nikolay Davydenko did it in straight sets to post a win over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and reach the semifinal of the 2009 Open Tenis Valencia, an ATP World Tour 500 event.

The second set saw two trade of breaks which let the Spanird back into the match momentarily, but the Russian took matters into his own hands in the thoroughly dominated tie-break.
