Venus Williams cut short Bethanie Mattek-Sands' stint at the US Open 2009 as she overwhelmed the charismatic Mattek in straight sets 6-4 6-2 to enter the third round.
Venus struck 29 winners but also committed 24 unforced errors in her victory over her compatriot. It wasn't as easy for Venus as the scoreline suggests.
The first set saw three breaks consecutively with Mattek giving the third seed a run for her money. The second set was dominated by Williams and after 91 minutes of entertaining tennis, Venus raised her arms in relief and rejoiced her ticket to the third round!
