Samantha Stosur  

Defending champion Sam Stosur secured her berth in the last sixteen here at the 2012 US Open.  Lepchenko played really well in the first set and took it to tie-breaker, but she just could not maintain same sort of intensity and momentum in the second-set and lost the battle to a better player. Stsour struggled with her shots in the first set but looked in fine control in the second and sailed home in straight sets.
