In a match that never really picked up too much pace, with neither player playing at his top level consistently, World No.5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga came out on top. The subdued match was played in the highest of spirit, but the level of tennis was a bit of a let down. The first three sets especially lacked intensity that we are used to seeing at the highest level. In the fourth, Big Jo finally arrived and turned the screw to close out the match in four sets. He will now meet either Andy Murray or David Ferrer in the semis. Jo fired a massive 17 aces and smashed 43 winners in the match.
