After 154 minutes and 51 winners which were coupled with 12 aces to boost the Czech's confidence, giant killer Tomas Berdych caused the biggest win of his career after taking out defending champion Roger Federerin four grueling sets. Berdych played phenomenally well as he refused to give away any useless points. As the match went by, Federer did not look at his best. The Swiss Legend got broken more than once in the match and only managed to take only one set in the entire match. Berdych eventually completed the 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win to book a spot in semifinals.
