Soderling vs Federer, Roland Garros 2009
Men Singles Final
FABULOUS FEDERER conquers Roland Garros. After 11 years of struggle through various levels in the draw, Roger Federer, the three time finalist from 2006 to 2008 finally went a step ahead and captured the record tying 14th Grand Slam title of his career with a double delight of achieveing the CAREER SLAM.
The match witnessed a total domination from the Swiss Maestro, who never looked in trouble and completed the victory when his Swedish opponent netted a return of serve. And as Federer dropped to his knees with big tears running down his face, those most definitely were of joy and victorious elation.
It is maybe my greatest victory, or certainly the one that removes the most pressure off my shoulders, I think that now and until the end of my career, I can really play with my mind at peace, and no longer hear that I have never won Roland Garros, Federer said.
