And, finally the longest tennis singles match in the history of Olympics comes to an end. What a terrific encounter it was and it was Federer in the end who prevailed in this patience testing game. Both contenders played some awe-inspiring tennis and it was difficult to choose the winner till the very end of the match. Hats off to Juan Martin Del Potro, who could not reach the final but certainly made his country proud by pushing World No. 1 Federer to a great extent.

Federer holds to get the match at 17-17 in the final set. Some really good serving by the Swiss helped him hold as he now is aiming to break the Del Potro serve to try serving out the match again.
