The hope of Britain - Andy Murray survived a scare today as he overcame a determined Marcos Baghdatis on Centre Court. A potential thriller in the making, it did not disappoint. Murray thought he had done the job when he took the first set and then broke Baghdatis in the second. The Cypriot however had other ideas, he fought back in the second to break Murray twice and take the set 6-3. Play was then halted for a while as the roof was to come on, Baghdatis came out of the break firing on all cylinders and broke the Murray serve again. It all looked gloomy for the World No.4 and the English supporters. But as the saying goes, cometh the hour cometh the man! Murray fought back and broke the Baghdatis serve, not once but twice in the set to win it and with it move 2 sets to 1 up.

The fourth was a bit of an anticlimax as the Cypriot faded away and allowed the Scot to take the match in 3 hours and thirteen minutes. He arrowed 10 aces and smashed 31 winners en-route to his victory.

Murray won the third-set and got two sets to one lead in the match. The Scot claimed the see-saw third set by raising the level of his game - just at the right time. The Scot kept the proceedings in control by firing quick serves at the right time and just he also fared really well in crucial rallies to unsettle the Cypriot. Finally, the Scot sealed the deal with 7-5 in the third set. Now,  Baghdatis will have to win the fourth set if he wants to keep his chances alive in the 2012 Championships.

Its getting really dark out there, as sunlight is fading quickly and now the roof will come into play. Players headed towards the locker room. 

And, Baghdatis clinched the second-set in 52 minutes. The Cypriot was a break down in this set, but then he regrouped nicely at the right time and broke Murray twice to win the second-set. Murray looked somewhat out-of-sorts at times as he missed out some easy shots and also made some other mistakes - which did cost him the second-set.
