Maria Sharapova defies the strong challenge put up by Agnieszka Radwanska and scores a 7-6, 7-5 victory in two tight sets.  Both the players looked extremely good in the middle and displyed a high quality of tennis. In the end it was the match experience that turned the tide in  Sharapova's favour.

The Russian once again puts her nose in front in the match and reels off three games in a row to lead Radwanska by 6 games to 5. After winning the first set already, Sharapova is just one break away from victory.

Sharapova once again denies Radwanska any chance of winning the set and levels it by breaking her serve in the tenth game for 5-5 square off. Sharapova reached the finals in Miami and won as title in Rome this year.

Sharapova once again survives a tough service game aand saves a break point at 30-40 with the help of a service winner to stay in the set.

Radwanska makes quick in-roads in the set and consolidates the break for a 5-3 lead. Radwanska has not won a singles title since 2008 and reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open.

Radwanska finally breaks through and leads the second set by 4 games to 3. The Pole is hoping to push this match into the deciding third set now.

Radwanska ensures that the competitive edge in this match goes on as she holds on to her serve confidently to deny Sharapova any further luck in service games.

Sharapova wins the first set in a gruelling tie-break. The Russian recovered from an early break deficit to first level things up and then push the set into a decisive tie-break where she comfortably led Radwanska to pocket it by 7 points to 4. Sharapova hit 32 winners but also committed 23 unforced errors that stretched the set till the tie-break. Sharapova is seeking her first French Open title after winning the other three majors in New York, Melbourne and Wimbledon.

And the set goes into the tie-break. Sharapova held her serve easily to now take her chances in the tie-break. Radwanska, on the other hand, would not like to repeat the mistakes she committed by letting go of a formidable 4-1 lead early on. 

With the way things are progressing now, the set seems to be heading for an inevitable tie-break finish. Radwanska loses just one point in holding serve to stay ahead in the set at 6-5.

Maria makes a statement with her powerful serves and fine groundstrokes as she wraps up another easy game to square off the scoreline in the first set at 5-5.

Radwanska avoids any further damage in the match and holds on to a confident service game to lead the opening set 5-4. Radwanska squandered an initial single break lead when Sharapova made an immediate comeback to level things up.

Sharapova raises the level of his game and squares off the scoreline at 4-4. The Russian is seeking a slice of history by becoming only the tenth woman in sporting history to complete a career Grand Slam by winning the French Open.
