That's superb performance from the Serbian No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who earned 94 points in total and subdued the Frenchman Gale Monfils in straight sets. Novak Djokovic certainly played like an ace contender for his country and kept the hopes alive of his countryman - in their hunt to the first ever Davis Cup title. Monfils had two poor sets, until the Frenchman brought forth some resistance in the third set, but failed to take this battle into the fourth set. 

Djokovic once again gets an upper hand in the match with a strong service hold for 5-4. The additional pressure to serve to stay in the match for Monfils is definitely a plus for Djokovic at the moment.

As expected, Djokovic brought his best game to the fore and clinched the break to get back on level terms in the third set. Djokovic, who won the first two sets handily, has traded two breaks in the third set already.

Monfils finds himself in a tough spot in the match as despite clinching a crucial break, the Frenchman failed to capitalise it into something else. If France loses this rubber, the tie will be decided by the fifth singles match later today between Janko Tipsarevic and Gilles Simon.

Djokovic makes a fine turn around in the third set and from a break down, goes up 3-2. The Serb has already won the first two sets and is in a commanding position in the match.

Monfils gets the first ever break of the match by the virtue of his resilience and solid groundstrokes. The Frenchman is now in a good position in the third set with a 2-1 lead.

Monfils avoids any further damage in the match and holds on to another tough service game to keep things still in his reach. The Frenchman recently won a title in Montpellier and reached the final in Paris Masters with a thrilling win over Roger Federer on home soil.
