It took one hour and 19 minutes for Li Na to defeat Sharapova in straight sets 7-5, 6-1. Li played great tennis and rallied past the former number one in every department of the game. She smashed three aces and followed up beautifully taking 82% of the second serve points in the match and just did not allow the Russian to break serve even once.
On the other hand, Sharapova really struggled with the serve and hit seven double faults which resulted in her weak second serve on which the Chinese Champ capitalized on.
