Tsonga had a jerky start to the match but then rose to top form in no time. Berdych tried hard to put pressure on his opponent but the Frenchman came up with blistering forehands to fish himself out of sticky situations. He snatched a break of serve to take the first set. In the second, both players traded breaks of serve but then Tsonga broke Berdych once again in the eleventh game to proceed towards victory. Tsonga smacked 7 aces, got 52% first serves in and shot 22 winners to win the match 6-3, 7-5

Will this be a decisive break? Berdych's uncharacteristic error in a short rally gives Tsonga a chance to wrap up the match now at 6-5 lead in the second set. The Frenchman is seeking place in his maiden final at the ATP World Tour Finals Championships.
